She has over 30 years of experience working in adolescent health for CDC and other entities such as the American Cancer Society, the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control, and Emory University.
Carmen is an active member of the American Public Health Association, the American Society for Public Administration, and the American School Health Association. She serves on the both the Global Mission Board and the Georgia Community Board of Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF). She is a Greenhouse Scholar mentor.

She spent 30 years with Wake County Public School System (Raleigh, NC) holding positions in the classroom, central services, and as a school executive of two early college programs. She was the founding principal of the Wake Young Women’s Leadership Academy, home of the OWLS – Outstanding Women Leaders (www.wcpss.net/wywla). Ms. Pierrie continued her service to public schools as the WakeEd Partnership Program Director (www.wakeed.org/) . She designed innovative programs that integrated the business community’s resources with the mission of the local school district. Currently, Ms. Pierrie works with the North Carolina State University (NCSU) Principal Preparation Program (nela.ced.ncsu.edu/) where she coaches and develops future school leaders. I believe that if you can make it in real estate, it is the greatest career for work/life balance there is.
