Yesenia is one of the most involved members of Girls Incorporated of Metro Denver in the history of the organization; she has been a member, intern, volunteer, ambassador and employee. She is the only member to complete over 6,000 program hours in the last 10 years. At Girls Inc., Yesi was exposed to sexual and reproductive education, leading her to write an argumentative essay about the importance of increasing the availability of women’s reproductive health care services and encouraging body confidence, specifically in developing Latin American countries. As a Latina, she feels very connected to this issue and hopes to use the film production experience that she gained through a course at CU Denver to document women’s healthcare issues in Latin America.
