Improve the infrastructure within low-income neighborhoods through community action.

Ruby grew up in a low-income, adoptive household, raised by white parents in a community that often questioned her identity as a Black girl. From a young age, she faced the dual challenges of socioeconomic instability and cultural alienation but transformed them into a deep commitment to equity, empathy, and justice. Motivated by her experiences with deteriorating infrastructure, she took on leadership roles in Restorative Justice, the Peak Education Impact Service Project, and local nonprofits, consistently bridging gaps between people and resources. Ruby’s relentlessness shines through her transformation from a struggling math student into a dedicated tutor, her sleepless nights studying driven not by ambition alone but by a desire to see her mother healthy and her community uplifted. She envisions a future where neighborhoods like hers are no longer neglected and every child feels a sense of belonging and support. Pursuing engineering, she aims to redesign the built environment to reflect dignity, accessibility, and care for the people it serves.
