Nicole rose to the challenge of succeeding in high school with inspiring determination. Even after completing all the necessary classes to finish her college preparatory curriculum, Nicole continued to challenge herself by taking more advanced classes at the local community college. After her father was laid off from his job of 25 years, it looked like Nicole would be unable to afford college at all. With the support of Greenhouse Scholars, Nicole was able to attend Drake University where she graduated with a BA in Biochemistry, Cell, and Molecular Biology. At Drake, also Nicole volunteered with Colleges Against Cancer and Habitat for Humanity. She is currently enrolled in a Physician Assistant Studies program at the University of St. Francis in Albuquerque.
