Nate left Thailand with his mother at the beginning of high school to escape poverty and live in a country where he would have a chance for a better life. Nate knew that school would be the key to achieving the prosperous future his mother and he dreamed of, but knowing little English, he couldn’t imagine how he would succeed. Nate surrounded himself with positive friends, participated in extracurricular activities, graduated near the top of his high school class, and graduated from the Colorado School of Mines with a degree in Petroleum Engineering (one of the nation’s most challenging pre-engineering programs). While in college, he returned to Thailand for an internship with PTT Exploration and Production. Nate is now working for Weatherford International in Colorado, one of the largest oilfield services companies.
