Create sustainable, science-based solutions to help communities most affected by climate change thrive.

Raised between Germany and California by her Indian-American mother and German father, Mohini grew up navigating cultural complexity and discovering strength through adaptability. After relocating to the U.S. she embraced new opportunities that awakened her passion for environmental justice and community impact. Mohini founded Waves of Change, a youth-led nonprofit tackling plastic pollution through activism, policy advocacy, community education, and tech-driven solutions, while also pushing to make girls’ flag football an official high school sport in California. When peers dismissed her early efforts to rally support for beach cleanups and environmental policy, she responded with empathy, education, and persistence—ultimately leading campaigns that influenced city councils and local businesses. Mohini envisions a future where sustainability is woven into daily life, and communities are equipped to act as stewards of the planet. She plans to pursue Environmental Science and Entrepreneurship to scale innovative, grassroots solutions that shape a healthier, more just world.
