Create a global platform for environmental solutions, while exploring innovative paths in science, engineering, medicine, and storytelling to make meaningful change.

As a self-taught filmmaker, Kana has earned recognition at over 30 international film festivals, including several Academy Award-qualifying festivals starting with a stop-motion project she created during recovery. She also founded the Connecting the Dots Project, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to sustainability. When faced with setbacks, she adapts quickly and works persistently, whether navigating city red tape or learning new techniques to strengthen her vision. Kana plans to create a more sustainable and united world by connecting communities through education and environmental action. As Kana begins this exciting new chapter at Stanford, she looks forward to the independence and adventure that college life brings. She plans to study bioengineering while continuing to explore how her storytelling and artistic skills can intersect with STEM.
