- Having started high school when he was 12 years old, Jason exhausted the available course options, so he took courses at the University of Chicago and Kennedy King College.
- He was co-founder and chairman of a non-violence organization, president of the National Honor Society, and a tenor in The Soul Children of Chicago Choir.
- Jason stepped up to care for his mother and raised his younger brother when his mother battled breast cancer. Personal experience fuels his desire to pursue a career in biomedical engineering, to help others suffering from breast cancer.
