Grace chose to move in with her grandmother at the age of ten, after her father abandoned the family and her mother struggled with drug addiction and incarceration. Grace holds strength and empathy – her worldview of service enabled her to seek service-learning opportunities in numerous countries in Europe and Africa.
She has a natural ability to inspire others through storytelling, and after being chosen to give a speech in front of her entire school one teacher remarked: “Grace did beautifully, and delivered a speech that pushed the narrative of our school culture in a way I don’t even think she understands.” Grace holds a paid job with Habitat for Humanity while also serving as varsity volleyball captain, holding positions on student council, and graduating in the top 10% of her high school class.
