Born during the Bosnian War, Erna’s family fled the area and immigrated to America in 1996. Over the years, she became a strong leader in her high school as Student Body vice president, captain of the volleyball team, FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) president, and valedictorian of 570 students – all while working part-time as a lifeguard.
While biking in a breast cancer triathlon, she fell off her bike and damaged her teeth. That struggle created an interest in dentistry and led to an internship at the CU Dental School.
