Carsyn describes herself as extremely introverted growing up. But after seeing a childhood friend pass away from cancer, she realized how important it was to develop a community to tackle issues. Carsyn sought out leadership opportunities and became Student Body President, Commisioner of Community Service for her Future Business Leaders of America Chapter, and Public Relations Officer for the National Honor Society. Carsyn has the perspective of someone who grew up under-resourced in a divided community and organized activities that gave back to a local children’s shelter. She was selected for the Vail Valley’s Youth Leaders Council, where she mentored middle school students on the dangers of substance abuse. Carsyn continued her commitment to improving the lives of Vail Valley residents through interning for the Vail Symposium, a program that provides educational programs for the community. Carsyn’s teacher describes her as someone who “is never in the back seat. She always has her hands on the wheel.”
