Throughout her life, An has tried to learn through both education and volunteer work. In high school, she learned about other cultures and hardships facing people around the world by volunteering to help land-mine victims in Africa. She says, “knowledge is the most powerful tool anyone can have for success.” At Colorado College, An once again rose to challenges and excelled. In addition to her academic pursuits, An studied abroad in Botswana and raised money for victims of conflicts in Africa through a program at Colorado College. She also volunteered with the Family Literacy Project, helping Hispanic adults learn English. After graduating with a BA in Neuroscience, An is studying for her PhD in Neuroscience at Colorado State University. An has also volunteered hundreds of hours already to Greenhouse Scholars after graduating from college. Her achievements, dedication to her projects, and kindness continue to inspire anyone who meets her.
