Providing resources and adequate healthcare to low-income and marginalized communities.

Aliaa Elkallini grew up in the heart of New York City, in a vibrant Arab-American family where survival and ambition went hand in hand. From an early age, she learned to navigate school, work, and caregiving all at once, keeping her sights set on a future in medicine built on justice and healing. As a youth ambassador and organizer with Girls for Gender Equity (GGE), she helped design trauma-informed programs for women of color, centering care, strength, and community power. Her advocacy was never just about policy: it was lived, personal, and unyielding. Named Mount Sinai’s 2025 Volunteer of the Year, Aliaa has committed herself to serving patients with empathy and purpose. She has also conducted research at NYU, exploring genetic mutations in yeast that could influence infertility and embryonic development, work that blends bench science with a drive for real-world impact. Now a student in the highly competitive Sophie Davis Program, she is preparing to become the kind of doctor who doesn’t just treat symptoms, but works to dismantle the barriers that cause them. Her mission is clear: to reimagine healthcare for the people who have always been told to wait last in line.
