Dionte’s friends call him ‘Battery’ because of the enthusiasm and optimism he brings to every interaction. As the captain of BEST Academy’s Cross Country team, he learned his gifts of energy and empathy were well-suited to leadership; his example of hard work and his motivational words drove his team to the State Championship. Through the art of spoken word, he has reached and inspired audiences of all ages.
Rising above the challenges of a single-parent household and a move to a new city (Atlanta) to become a National Honor Society student and BEST’s valedictorian, Dionte offered his fellow students a powerful example of what a positive, driven mindset can achieve. By founding the BEST Optimist Club, he provided his peers a forum to develop their own good habits.
